But don’t fret help is at hand thanks to the latest breed of tanners that
promise to make it simple to get that Jennifer Aniston sun kissed glow not
smell like biscuits and wee!
I properly road tested these, they each got a full weeks use and
instructions were followed to the letter, here are my results -
5 Fake Bake gradual tan for fair skin £22 for 170 ML
This new gradual tanner is made with all organic ingredients; it comes in a
box and includes a small sample of fake bake exfoliator and a pair of
application gloves.
It requires the same process as the original fake bake – exfoliate, apply
the lotion with gloves before you go to sleep and wake up with a colour.
The lotion is non-tinted (the original looks a lot like marmite!) It smells
strange- I thought it was like play dough- my boyfriend said popcorn!
The next day I was rather disappointed that there was barely any colour,
after all that ceremony I wanted to be brown!
This would be good for people who are nervous about tanning as it comes
with in depth instructions, and the use of gloves means no tango hands to
give away your secret!
4 Famous Dave’s Tanning Mousse £19.99 200ML
This sounds like it a home made tanner being sold at your local market but
actually this is some seriously successful heavy duty tanner that originates
from the US.
The dark tint makes it easy to spot bits you might have missed and the
mousse texture means a little goes a long way! You need to use gloves to
apply as the quick dry formula will stain palms.
As my skin is VERY pale, when it was first applied the colour looked a sort
of reddy-brown, but developed after a few hours into a lovely dark even tan.
I think this would be more suitable for people with a more olive/yellow
skin tone to make it more natural.
The colour was very noticeable, to the point where my friends asked me if I
had a spray tan, and even though I only applied it once it lasted a full
week.
3 Loccitane Sunshine Lotion £14.70 150ML
This daily moisturising treatment contains a subtle iridescent shimmer and a
touch of self- tanning agents for a progressive, even and natural looking
tan.
The lotion was unscented, rich and silky to apply. It made my skin feel
really soft and moisturised.
The colour was very gentle, and needed to be built up after a few
applications. This is great if you just wanted to replace your normal daily
body lotion to with something that can perk up your complexion.
2 FC UK Pure Tanning Body lotion £4.
This has a lovely light consistency and easy to apply just like a normal
body lotion, and had a nice fragrance. It absorbed really quickly which
meant I didn’t have to wait with tacky skin until I put my pants on!
It comes in a tiffany blue bottle that will look great in your bathroom.
You could see a definite colour change after two applications and it was
really even, so good for people who have a naturally darker skin tone and
want deeper colour.
Great credit crunch friendly price too for a branded product.
1 PIZ BUIN Self Tanning Lotion + Colour Dial £17.99 240ML
This was my favourite of all the tanners that I tried.
The bottle is divided down the middle, lotion in one chamber with tanner in
the other, and one opening. Thanks to a dial at the top you can choose from
5 shades just how dark you want to go!
So you can start with a light tan, or spin the dial and have a dark tan
without having to keep applying the lotion over again.
From anaemic to umpa loompa at the spin of a dial!
You get plenty for your money; it has a gel consistency that melts into your
skin and a refreshing minty smell.
I went for the mid tan (I was fairly confident by this point) and the
result was a lovely warm bronze that looked like I had been somewhere sunny
for a weekend. |
