Fiona Parkhouse is the founder of skincare brand Amie. Inspired by her teenage daughter’s problems in finding affordable, attractive and most importantly natural products she set out to change the face of skincare for the young. Slowly but surely Fiona’s brand is making waves in the beauty press, giving the traditional chemical injecting brands a run for their money, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some of their products.
Being the unfortunate owner of sensitive skin, I am very careful about what I slather on my face, sticking to a core group of trusted products and brands with that buzz phrase of “natural formulas”. I am often dubious of casually flung “natural” claims when the only organic ingredient is a smattering of jojoba oil, however with all Amie products containing an average of 95% fruit and botanical ingredients things were off to a promising start. First up was the Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash, a soap free cleanser that can be used morning and night to refresh and remove impurities.
The creamy formula means a little goes a long way and didn’t make my skin feel tight like many cleansers. After removing make-up and everyday grime from my skin I tried the Bright Eyes Very Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. As a mascara nut this product seemed made for me, easily removing all traces of make-up with no panda eye after effects.
As a bonus the cucumber in the formula gently refreshes tired peepers. Whilst I loved both these products my favourite was the New Leaf Skin Exfoliating Polish. With ingredients such as mango and cocoa seed butters this cream smells absolutely delicious, perfect for a pick me up on a dreary morning. Advised as a once or twice a week indulgence product, the bamboo and jojoba beads gently lift off dead skin cells revealing smooth and super clean skin.
With six products currently available in the range there’s something for everyone, with cleansers and moisturisers suited to individual beauty regimes. It shouldn’t just be the young who get to stuff their bathroom cabinets with Amie, the young at heart definitely deserve a piece of the action too.
