Beauty Tried & Tested: Kate Logan Beauty's all natural skincare range

Kate Logan Beauty's all natural skincare range
Written by Danielle Lee

Natural, organic, simple, pure…all words used to convince consumers that their products are the best for our skin. But how many of us really take notice of what is in our skincare products? Do you now your parabens from your petrochemicals? No, me neither! So I was pleasantly surprised when I found a product range that seems to defy this deceptive trend on the market.

Kate Logan Beauty is a skincare collection created by - yep you guessed it - Kate Logan. The  entire range is sourced, handmade and packaged by Kate. All the ingredients used are natural. Plant extracts, beeswax, infused oils and natural clays as well as healing botanicals have been used to create simple products which are gentle to the skin. There are no additives, preservatives or harmful chemicals, which is comforting to know. Even the most ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ products on the high street have a terrifyingly long list of ingredients which are difficult to identify.

As a facialist, Miss Logan does know a  thing or two about skincare. With more than 10 years experience under her belt, I feel like I’m in good hands.

Deciding on which products to sample from the range was a tricky task. There are body and facial balms and oils, cleansers, lip balms and many more tempting treats. I didn’t know where to begin. In the end I described my skin woes to Miss Logan and she happily suggested a few products that would help. I would definitely not find this kind of treatment on the high street!

With my skin diagnosed I waited for my products to arrive. The box that came had the statement “handmade with love” written on the top. Once I opened the parcel this motto was clear to see. Each product was individually wrapped in bubble wrap and tissue paper. Resting on top were little envelopes with instructions and a list of ingredients for each product. As soon as I opened the parcel I was hit with an array of gorgeous scents and knew I was in for a treat.

I started with the Borage Cleansing Oil. I was a bit dubious about putting oil on my skin as it tends to get greasy. The idea of combating oily skin with oil seemed a bit abstract. The healing borage and soothing avocado combined to make a gentle but effective cleanser, removing my make-up with ease. It just as easily erased my qualms about facial oils!

I then moved on to the Rose Skin Tonic which is meant to balance the skin’s ph levels. The potent liquid has quite an overpowering scent which is to be expected as this is a concentrated solution. I diluted the liquid as instructed and again the product was kind to my skin. My skin felt softer even before applying moisturiser.

For my morning routine I followed this with the Blossom Day Balm. At first I found it difficult finding the right amount of product to use. Using too much balm left my skin shiny and not enough left my skin dry. I soon got the hang of it though and found my skin feeling fresher and not clogged or greasy like so many high street brands do.

On a night I used the Evening Facial Oil. The soothing calendula and almond oils blended with hints of sandalwood and patchouli both hydrated and calmed my skin. The scent of the oil lingered on my skin which I liked as I drifted off to sleep.

Also, on a night, I used the Argan eye balm. The balm didn’t irritate my eyes whatsoever and found I could apply the product all over the eye area without it stinging. I have quite sensitive eyes which react to certain creams and make-up brands so was very pleased that I had no problems with this balm. It was instantly nourishing and the scent, like the rest of the range, made it a treat for my senses as well as my skin. I will definitely be using this again.

Overall, I am pleased with the results. My skin feels softer, cleaner and less irritated. I feel this range is perfect for those who want a gentle but effective skincare routine.
