But while “green” beauty is definitely of the moment, it certainly wasn’t born yesterday. The Martha Hill, cruelty-free, herbal skincare range has been quietly peddling all things natural for thirty years and now forms part of Beauty Naturals, a family-run mail order/on-line business. Run by her three grandsons, Martha’s original line has been joined by Skin Revivals — an advanced formula skincare regime (perfect for dehydrated or ageing complexions).
Just launched into this line is the 99% Organic Facial Cleansing Oil (£12 - 100ml). Some might find it odd to use an oil to remove dirt and make-up, but just a few drops of this gentle blend of rosehip seed oil, avocado, sweet almond, sunflower, jojoba and geranium oils, once massaged in and emulsified with a little warm water, wipes away easily with a damp cloth (muslin is good) or pad. And you have the satisfaction of knowing that the anti-oxidant ingredients don’t just remove grime but also detoxify and maintain moisture.
Another new weapon in the war against ageing is Skin Revivals Advanced Night Time Nourishment (£16-50ml) which works to repair, hydrate and regenerate your skin at a time when it is at its most receptive. With rosehip oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, olive fruit oil, flax seed oil, aloe vera, frankincense and rose oil — it smells, as well as feels, delicious. It absorbs well (all those oils don’t sit greasily on the skin).
While I was investigating these new lines, I also looked at a new range of home products that have arrived in the Beauty Naturals portfolio. The Green Housekeeper is handmade in the UK from 100% natural ingredients (no GMOs, parabens, petrochemicals etc) they’re fully biodegradable. My favourite is The Essential Housekeeper (£5 - 250ml) a trigger spray multi-tasker that smells delicious as it’s spritzing surfaces (that’ll be the lemon, lime and bergamot). You can also use it as a zesty room freshener. |
