MAC Fibre Rich Lass Mascara
The brush of this mascara appears dry when pulled from the tube, and I wondered if my lashes were going to be coated at all... little did I know. From the annoying little blonde lashes in the corner of my eyes to the big ones in the centre, this mascara picked up every lash with its various length bristles.
The most prominent feature of this mascara was its ability to capture every lash, but it also separated the lashes beautifully. My pet hate is clumped together lashes, and although my eyelashes are naturally quite long and curled, I find that many mascaras add weight but do not define individual lashes. The MAC mascara was brilliant for offering weight, separation and definition to every lash.
Available at maccosmetics.co.uk and Mac stores nationwide, priced at £12.50.
Chanel Exceptionnel Intense Volume and Sensational Curl Mascara
This mascara is great for grabbing each lash from the root, with its precise half-brush, half-comb applicator. The evenly positioned bristles and combs on the applicator separated the lashes perfectly, whilst adding weight and length.
The mascara does not clump like so many I have tried in the past, and I think this is down to the rubber comb teeth. When wearing the mascara out with friends, many of them commented on my lashes and asked if I was wearing false lashes, and I noticed a great difference in the curl of the lashes. Not only were they long and full but they also curled more than usual. And, I must say, this will now be my everyday mascara, I really was impressed!
Available from Chanel counters nationwide, and from Boots priced at £20.95.
Dior Extreme Wear High Intensity Lash Curler
The brush of this mascara is similar to the Chanel product, with evenly places rubber combs. The difference is that this mascara does not have brush-like bristles, and instead has just the rubber ones. The liquid itself is quite thick, but once again, the liquid does not get clogged onto the brush and leave your lashes looking all gloopy and stuck together.
Instead, this mascara doesn’t dry instantly, which is great because it allows you to add more mascara over the first application to add depth and length. I found myself standing at the mirror for a few minutes longer than I did for the other mascaras, but the result was really full bodied and long lashes, perfect for daytime and evening.
Available at Dior counters nationwide, rrp £21.50
Avon Spectralash Mascara
This is a first – a mascara that lets you choose how long you want your lashes to be. The Spectralash mascara has a dial with 3 settings, letting you choose the length on a day to day basis. Okay, so I was slightly sceptical at first, wondering if a simple dial could actually work. I was wrong to have my doubts – the dial was a great little feature, and it really did affect the length of my lashes.
When changed from 1 to 2, the hole where the brush leaves the tube gets larger (allowing more mascara on the brush), and when on setting 3, the mascara brush has masses amounts of mascara on the applicator. I found myself applying my day make up with setting one, and for a more dramatic look in the evening, I cranked it up to setting 3. Looking at the brush itself, this mascara looks like it is going to deliver from the sheer weight of liquid the brush holds. This mascaras does a great job at separating whilst adding volume and curling.
