New Spring 2010 Collection from Nailgirls Nail Polishes
review by Sophie McMullan
Spring has sprung! In the fashion world this means floral dresses, open toe footwear and a bloom of colours in our beauty routine. Basically, bold hues are of the season and more so, perhaps post recession, we’re not afraid of trying new shades. Nature is coming to life and so must we.
In nail terms, pastels are pushing their way to the forefront. From dusty blues to pale pinks, anything goes, as long as it’s soft and pretty.
Enter young nail range ‘Nailgirls’, launched in May 2009 by sisters Lynda-Louise and Joanna Burrell. Their spa in Islington is a girlie haven to pamper hands and feet, complete with a drying lounge and ‘spa garden’.
To date they have 50 shades in their range, from punchy neons to classic reds and now a delicate pastel collection. 4 muted shades that cover spring in style to match any outfit; soft taupe, pale denim blue, nude pink and pale pink. There’s even a matte finish top coat, should you want to be bang on trend and finish the look off completely.
All of these ice cream shades are long lasting with a subtle gloss finish. Free from harmful chemicals: Toluene, Formaldehyde, Camphor and Dibutyl Phthalate they improve the health of the nails as you’re wearing them.
I tried ‘Pink 19’, a pale, sheer pink with a hint of shimmer. Not being a fan of glitter, this look was far more subdued and instead of looking childish, it made my nails look even more glossy, attracting the light in a multi-dimentional way. Easy to apply with the long brush, I also noticed that the bottle contained more than your average nail polish. Most ranging from 10-15ml, Nailgirls give you 17ml’s worth of colour at a competitive price of £10.
You can purchase these colours at their swanky boutique or via their website www.nailgirls.co.uk, there’s also mail order (020 7359 2772). |
