Beauty Tried & Tested: Brighten up this season’s make up with Chanel

Brighten up this season’s make up with Chanel
review by Amy Castle

Sometimes pastels can draw out the colour in your skin, and make you look washed out. These make up remedies will definitely brighten up your collection this season.

The neon pink and neon orange Pop Lipshines from Chanel look rather intense in their tubes, but once the gloss is applied the effect is a sleek and smooth look with a hint of colour. Perfect for nights out, the gloss stays on for longer than others I have used, and the bright colours –despite looking rather bright in their tubes – are subtle enough in colour.

My pet hate is leaving the house without nail varnish (even if I wear a simple nude varnish, I have to wear it). When I opened the glossy black Chanel packaging, I was pleasantly surprised to see a bright turquoise laquer. The varnish was easy to apply, and not only did it not drag, but it didn’t require two coats, and dried in a matter of minutes. I tried two bright, spring colours, 527 Nouvelle Vague and 537 Riviera, and loved them both. Riviera was a raspberry pink colour, and was a great match for the neon pink gloss.

The thick, matte lipstick Rouge Allure lipstick is creamy in texture and easy to apply. I tried shade 187 Genial, a bright pink coral hue with a satin texture. During the day, this shade is perhaps too bright, but by evening I found myself wearing it on most occasions. Creamy and rich in texture, the lip colour was soft and didn’t dry out my lips.

The Chanel range has definitely brightened up this season’s wardrobe for me, and pastels seem a thing of the past.
