A Trio Of Skin Treats From Weleda
Review by Amy Castle
Having a long, relaxing bath is my idea of a quiet night in after a long week at work. There’s nothing better than pampering yourself and I always feel better for it.
So, last Friday I lined-up my trio of Weleda goodies on the edge of my bath and got stuck in. The first product was the Chestnut Toning Bath Soak. Rich and creamy in texture, the milk frothed-up my tub and I climbed in. The aroma of the bath milk was almost spicy; grown-up and aromatic. I found the smell really relaxing, and could feel my muscles loosening. The bath milk is said to help the body recuperate from fatigue, and I had to agree with this quality.
I used the gentle Birch Body Scrub whilst bathing. It was mild yet effective; I felt my skin smoothen whilst I was gently massaging it in. With plant wax pearls and pure plant oils, it smelt like citrus fruit mixed with the smell you get from grass that has just suffered a downpour of rain. It was gorgeous, and it only really became evident that this product was an exfoliator once I started to apply it, as its creamy ivory colour and the texture masked the tiny beads at first. Some exfoliators can be really granular and uncomfortable – but the creaminess and softness of this scrub was a welcome exception.
The Pomegranate Creamy Body Wash did exactly what it said – it was luxuriously silky and creamy, and had the sweet fruity pomegranate smell. As with the other two products, the texture was creamy and thick, and was ivory in colour. The label said: “Inspires the senses” – and it did exactly that!
Weleda have a great raison d’être and use all natural ingredients that are free from artificial foaming detergents. No preservatives, colours or fragrances are used, and there’s something to be said about that. It’s nice to know you’re using something that isn’t going to be too harsh or dry-out your skin. The real test was after my bath: after using the Weleda range my skin was incredibly soft for hours, and I never got that feeling you sometimes get from strong soaps or body washes.
The Weleda trio I sampled were a real treat, and prove that nurturing your skin with natural ingredients and plant extracts can add some luxury to bath times.
The Weleda Bath Soak, Scrub and Body Wash are all priced at £8.95, available from www.weleda.co.uk |
