Beauty Tried & Tested: Brand in focus: Revlon

September saw the release of the Grow Luscious mascara. With a soft bristled applicator, I thought the mascara gave a more natural look to my lashes. Some plastic applicators can separate the lashes too much, leaving a fake look, but this mascara just seemed to enhance the lashes I did have. Although it did add a great amount of weight and black colour, it was great for both day and evening wear. I’m not sure if it made my lashes stronger and grow, like it claims, but I did notice that my lashes seemed thicker after application than they do with the mascara I usually use.

From the A/W Collection, I tried the Colorstay 12-hour Eyeshadow compact, which comes in 18 colourways. The tagline is that it won’t budge for 12 hours, and it really didn’t move an inch. I applied the turquoise and grey shadows in the morning, and by late evening, the shadow was still vibrant and as perfect as it was when first applied.

I also tried the Super Lustrous lipstick in Stormy Pink, Smoked Peach and Mink. All three colours were vibrant and classy, and the lipstick was easy to apply and didn’t crease on my dry winter pout. They also stayed on well, and look great with a gloss applied over them.

This December, the Fire and Ice collection will be launched, including two lipsticks and a varnish. I tried the All Fired Up varnish – a deep red. The polish went on really well and glided over my nails with ease. The colour was vibrant and lasted for days without chipping.

Autumn and winter has seen some great releases in the beauty world, and the Revlon range is definitely a quality example of what’s available at the minute.

The Grow Luscious mascara is priced at £9.99, the Colorstay 12-hour Eyeshadow compact is £7.99, the All Fired Up varnish is £6.29 and the Super Lustrous lipsticks are £7.29.
