Jane Iredale – The Skin Care Makeup Range
Review by Amy Castle

It’s been over a year since the craze of mineral makeup hit the world with its loose powders and compacts. I myself have never tried powders as foundation – for two reasons: one, because I have really dry skin and think it would just drag over the face, and two because I can’t seem to get my head around the idea that powder could provide good coverage.

Beauty Tried & Tested: Jane Iredale – The Skin Care Makeup Range

The Jane Iredale brand was launched in 1994 and offers make up to suit every skin type. Iredale herself worked in the film industry, and came across women whose careers depended on having flawless skin, therefore giving her both the inspiration and experience to develop her own range.

I tried Dream Tint, a tinted moisturiser with SPF 15. The product was easily applied, gave great coverage and felt soft on my skin. I have dry skin, and usually foundation sinks-in throughout the day if I don’t apply a base, but this product meant I could skip the base and I could apply it in a hurry (perfect for those “I should have been out of the house an hour ago” kind of mornings... (Dream Tint RRP £29.95)

The PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation was the product I was especially eager to try. Would it provide me with great coverage and not drag on my skin? I was really impressed with the results, and the powder gave me a foundation look, whilst feeling extremely soft on my skin. (PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation RRP £39.95)

The EyeSteppes featured a quintuplet of eyeshadows in a petite stacked compact. The three colourways available are specifically picked-out to complement blue, brown and green eyes. I found the eyeshadows easy to apply, and they stayed on all day long. (EyeSteppes RRP £39.95)

Next up was the Phoenix Sugar & Butter Lip Exfoliator, an ingenious idea, in my opinion. One side has a sweet cocoa butter exfoliator whilst the other has a luscious light pink lipstick. The exfoliator made my lips tingle, whilst the colour added volume and definition to my lips. I loved the idea of this one, and although there are many plumpers on the market, I’ve not actually seen an exfoliator in this way before. (Phoenix Sugar & Butter Lip Exfoliator RRP £19.75)

The Jane Iredale range, to me, focused on enhancing the features you already have: each eyeshadow, powder and lipstick I tried provided subtle colour and enough product to enhance your natural colour or tone without a false, over made-up face.

The range is available from stockists all over the UK and Ireland. Call 020 8450 7111 to locate a salon/spa near you.
