Perfect hair with BaByliss
review by Amy Castle
Everyone has their own preferred hair routine: a favourable way to dry, iron and style hair. For me, I’ve always had to blow dry my hair, straighten it to add shine and curl the ends before tipping my head upside down to add volume. Yup, it’s a bit of a chore, but I’ve always thought it’s the way it had to be done in order for me to have thick, bouncy and full-bodied hair.
And then came a product that meant my whole routine was dramatically shortened.
I tried the BaByliss Big Hair tool that comprises a rotating soft-bristled brush with heat and ceramic plates. Whilst hair is still damp, the tool grabs onto sectioned pieces of hair and rotates whilst blowing heat, to add volume, shine and body to hair.
The brush can rotate clockwise and anti-clockwise, meaning locks of hair can be curled, then dropped back into place. There are also two heat settings and speeds, and a cool setting to set the hair once you’ve achieved the desired look.
My first attempt resulted in a rather nasty burn to the forehead and an urgent need for Savlon. After my next few attempts, I realised the burn was definitely due to my stupidity and not the product itself (I was rather slowly using the barrel as you would hot rollers, holding it on for a long time and not moving the brush down strands of hair). Clearly my reading of instructions needs to improve.
It took a while to get used to the feel of the product, but after the team at BaByliss saw my tweet announcing my burn(!), they directed me to a Facebook page with a how-to video, and I soon realised just how quick and simple the product was to use.
After getting the hang of the product, I now rely on it for drying and styling my hair. It really is a great product and eliminates the need to have lots of different tools for your perfect ‘do. After every use, my hair is left full-bodied, shiny and gives my hair a softer and more tousled look.
I also tried the handbag-sized BaByliss Petite Elegance 200, a mini straightener tool perfect for shorter hair, touch-ups and for styling fringes. In a nude metallic pink colour, the straightener has good aesthetic design and is great to pop in your handbag for on-the-go styling. The ceramic styler heated up incredibly quickly and the outer casing didn’t get too hot so it was easy to hold and style hair. It comes in a pink storage pouch and heats up to 200?c, meaning every style can be achieved easily and with no fuss.
The BaByliss stylers are effective tools for great looking hair, and having tried both out on many friends with different styles and thicknesses of hair, I can comfortably say they worked well on all types of hair. I strongly recommend purchasing the Big Hair tool if you’re after thick, tousled and natural looking hair this season.
