The Clearing Spa
The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate
review by Amy Castle
Spas are places of tranquillity, relaxation and escape, and that’s definitely what I received when I opted for a full body massage at The Clearing Spa.
With a wealth of treatments on offer from seashell scrubs, de-stress massage and reflexology, the spa offers something for everyone and it even has mums-to-be and teen treatments.
I was shown to a double treatment room laden with multi-coloured tea lights and the relaxing smell of essential oils filled the room. After filling in a card to inform the spa specialist of my needs (most notably the need to eliminate a painful knot on my left shoulder), I lay down to relax for 50 minutes.
The specialist was extremely thorough, starting with my back and neck. Oil was rubbed into her hands and she began to work on the lower back, which was really relaxing. Sometimes full body massage can be a bit weak, not providing enough pressure and sometimes rushing over certain areas, but this was certainly not a rushed massage.
A feint hum of music made the room feel even more tranquil and I closed my eyes for nearly the whole 50 minutes. After my neck, back and shoulders were massaged – and the knot eliminated – my legs and feet got some much needed attention.
My arms and hands were also massaged, areas that are often left out of full body treatments. When it was over, I was so relaxed I didn’t want to get up from the bed! Luckily the spa offers a post-treatment room where you can relax and rehydrate with a glass of water and relax in their comfy lounge chairs.
The Clearing Spa is a place of sheer relaxation, and its beautiful infinity pool with doors opening onto the beautiful parklands adds even more luxury.
The Clearing Spa Essential Relaxation full body massage costs £55 for 50 minutes. For more information, visit www.thecornwall.com
