Review by Belinda Morris

There's nothing new about the idea of harnessing the ocean – and specifically seaweed from it – for its healing and skin-nourishing properties; it's a centuries-old custom. But with so many developments and technologies going on in the beauty industry, sometimes you can forget about the old, traditional ways.

Beauty Tried & Tested: Briny Beauty – Voya’s My little Hero

Which is why, with such things in mind, just after Christmas, I found myself wallowing, mermaid-like, in a very hot, murky green and frankly smelly bath, draped in (not slimy actually) seaweed. In fact, the smell aside, it was a very pleasant experience and my skin felt softer for it.

But that's not the focus of this review. The company that sent me this 'Lazy Days' seaweed bath – Voya from Co.Sligo Ireland – also produces an anti-ageing serum which makes use of the various heath-giving properties of hand-harvested seaweed. Called My little Hero (£51- 30ml) this oil is also packed with 100% certified organic ingredients – a blend of oils which 'feed' the skin and boost its natural defenses. Sunflower, wheatgerm, sweet almond, avocado, rosehip and something called Gold of Pleasure are among the many oils that are used.

For those who feel they need a little extra help to combat dryness this serum is fabulous under a regular moisturiser at night as well as first thing in the morning. After using it for two weeks my skin feels softer and looks much perkier than it has a right to at this time of year.
