Wrinkles aren’t my ageing issue – sagging skin is. In the last five years or so I seem to have developed jowls – I look scarily like my grandmother, which as lovely as she was, is not a look I much aspire to.
So, imagine my joy when a favourite skincare brand – Elemis – announced a new product for just my problem. Seems I am not alone in hating my encroaching softening jawline. Pro-Intense Lift Effect (£55 – 30ml) has, they say, been clinically proven (over 56 days) to reduce facial contour sagging.
As always with Elemis, the results are achieved through a combination of natural extracts, together with cutting-edge lab work over several years. In this case a blend of lupin, edelweiss, tiger grass and an extract from African tiger nut (whatever that might be) works with the skin’s natural function where the dermis meets the epidermis. A whole lot of plumping, firming, protecting and collagen-boosting goes on.
So, does it work? Well, as soon as I applied it (to my jawline and sweeping up to my cheekbones), I could feel a very slight tightening sensation. As with all Elemis products it’s extremely pleasant to use – gentle, absorbs well, no dragging, smells lovely – and after a week my skin certainly felt smoother (as promised). After three weeks diligent day and night usage I am sure that I can detect less sagging – a fimer and more defined look to my jawline. Very encouraging (and nanna would have loved it).
