Andrew Geoghegan

by Belinda Morris

I really hope that I couldn't be described as in any way desperate when it comes to the whole Wedding Thing. After all, I have been there before and so should probably consider that I've had my moment of being the centre of attention and be pretty grateful for it. Yes, alright, I'm not unhappy with my lot, but... damn it, I really do want to get married again. And, call me materialistic, grasping and just plain greedy, but I want a ring. Not just any ring obviously; in particular I want THIS ring by Andrew Geoghegan. Gorgeous isn't it!

I could buy it for myself of course (self-purchasing females being pretty on-trend from a fine jewellery perspective) but that would be somewhat missing the point don't you think? Why do such a thing when, with a bit of clever jiggery-pokery, I might be able to get the object of my (considerable) affections to do it for me? All I need to do is draw his attention away from Amazon for a while and towards the appropriate page of rings on www.andrewgeoghegan.com and the less-than-subtle hint will be dropped.

I realise that it isn't your average engagement ring, but then again my taste in jewellery is rather more off-piste and there's certainly nothing average about Mr Geoghegan's designer pieces. In fact this particular dazzler – called Satellite Madeira – leapt off the 'Statement Rings' rather than the 'Engagement Rings' page – which probably says something about my attention-seeking leanings.

So, why do I love it? Ooh, let me count the ways. Firstly I am drawn to the intense warmth  of the central Madeira Citrine – it's almost edible and I just know I could happily spend hours staring into its mysterious depths. I love the fact it's set at an angle to the ring and I think I'm going to choose the buff top (rather than faceted) to create a contrast with the overall sculptural feel. The satellite diamonds create such a pretty border and the extra stone set into the band gives an added random edginess. Oh and I love the size. If I'm going to put a ring back on my third finger (which has been naked for far too long now) I want it to be bold.

And speaking of bold, I think, this year being of the leap variety, I may just have to take matters into my own hands. Watch this space...
