The Wedding Present Gig Review 7/10 The Wedding Present Gig Review

It was a trip down memory lane for many at the Forum as the Wedding Present rolled back the years.

Back in their heyday of the late 80s the Wedding Present would have been a staple for the great unwashed and many were here again twenty years later and ensuring plenty of nannies in London were busy for the evening.

The band did not disappoint the faithful as they ran through a set full of emotive rock and indie tunes and proving their worth as a decent live act.

The ‘Boy Gedge’ delivered the lines in his trademark achingly sombre tone with great back up from the rest of the crew.

It was virtuoso ramblings into the whole spectrum of life’s typically messy relationship encounters - a kinda of Dido on smack. The dark undertones of Gedge’s lyrics were nicely balanced with a bitter sweet empathy eliciting devotion which saw the crowd mooch away contentedly.

Highlights of the night included the moody, trancey Interstate 5 which seemed to suitably rouse the audience, Boo Boo and Lovenest.

As a passing note although the sound was pretty clear for the gig it could definitely have done with being cranked up a bit to create a little more atmosphere in the place.
