Sugar Crisis Gig Review
Hoxton Bar & Kitchen , June 16 London
written by Alan Owen
Playing to a diminished crowd of what appeared to be mostly a shy group of friends and family Sugar Crisis followed two acts that featured live drums and video synched footage, leaving the duet only twenty minutes for their set, their sound and sample tracks lacked the vigorous punch of electronic beats and shifted heavily towards a teen age popy sound and Lorna Anthony's soft pitched vocals.
Accompanying their sound was Lorna's electric guitar passages and Neil Brunton's backing vocals. Having declared 'this is our first gig in london' there was no established rapport with the audience and the duet was just determined to deliver their tight sounding pop tunes quickly.
Finally, their set closer 'we're stuck in traffick' put the audience in a more enthusiastic mood, and closing their set
with an all smiles attitude.
