| Sailor Jerry Presents… Local Natives and Los Campesinos!
Sailor Jerry Rum is coming to the Barfly, and it’s bringing some great music with it as part of Sailor Jerry Presents…
First up, Sailor Jerry Presents…Los Campesinos! on Friday 4th December at the Cardiff Barfly in Wales. They will be taking a break from their UK support tour of The Cribs to return to their hometown for a very special free show. Fresh from promoting their second studio album across the pond on their North American tour, Los Campesinos! are unquestionably on the cusp of greatness following the critical acclaim ‘Romance Is Boring’ received around the globe. Seeing them perform for free in such an intimate venue will be an extraordinary experience for new and loyal fans of the band ahead of their headline tour scheduled for February 2010. Los Campesinos! guest support to be announced.
Next up, Sailor Jerry Presents…Local Natives on Monday 14th December at the Camden Barfly in London. Californian five-piece Local Natives were the hit of 2009’s South by South West in Texas and have been turning heads ever since. The melodic vocal troupe then released debut album ‘Gorilla Manor’ and lead single ‘Sun Hands’ which drew flattering comparisons to Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend and Fleet Foxes. Now, after an extensive US tour, the buzz band is back in the UK and will play Sailor Jerry Presents, a completely free show, for an exclusive audience. Local Natives guest support to be announced.
Tickets are free and available at www.sailorjerryrum.co.uk
Alongside the eclectic free gigs, Sailor Jerry Presents… will also showcase the iconic Norman Collins artwork which firmly places him as the founding father of the tattoo world. Sailor Jerry is recognised as the leading light of tattoo design and flash art following his innovative work in the 1930s which gained him cult status.
Sailor Jerry was exposed to the art and imagery of Southeast Asia when he travelled on the high seas, before going on to design tattoos which reflect the devil-may-care attitude of men far away from home. He was an uncompromising individual, and he is widely regarded as the most influential tattooist of all time.
Norman Collins the man is the inspiration behind Sailor Jerry Rum, and classic, tasty serves including Jerry & ginger and Jerry & cola will be on offer at promotional rates throughout the night. There will also be a specially designed original Sailor Jerry serves available at the shows for thirsty music aficionados.
Sailor Jerry has a long standing association with music both here in the UK and in the US where independent bands regularly take to the stage in the Sailor Jerry Store in Philadelphia. Sailor Jerry has also been at the best events in the UK musical calendar including the Big Chill, Kerrang! Awards and the Camden Crawl.
Now, the sailor continues this tradition by rewarding music fans with Sailor Jerry Presents; completely free shows with undeniably great bands and original and iconic artwork. |
