The Bob Marley & the Golden Age of Reggae at Proud Camden is a celebration of an iconic period and an artist whose music and influence still lives on today, marking the 30th anniversary of Bob Marley's death in May.

The private screening of the exhibition provided a mixture of familiar reggae music and Bob Marley tracks being played in the background, along with the chance to meet Kim Gottlieb-Walker herself. With the humidity of a surprise heat wave, the relaxed and laid back atmosphere, it felt like Jamaica had been brought to Proud Camden, a venue that does the exhibition justice.

The exhibition offers an insight into the life of Bob Marley, briefly shared by the photographer Kim Gottlieb-Walker who she met whilst travelling around the United States and Jamaica over a two year period during 1975 to 1976. Through her camera lenses she captures some of his most personal moments and performances. From Bob Marley performing at an open air theatre in Santa Barbara to a touching moment of Bob Marley meeting Kim's young son in a bright yellow hat, the photographs are intimate yet non-invasive. The High Times Magazine cover shot 1976 also makes a stunning photograph as it is one of the few times you see Bob Marley posing. In addition to this, other reggae artists whom Kim met along her travels and took part in this historic era have also been included in the exhibition such as; Jacob Miller, Chris Blackwell, The Black Disciples, Bunny Wailer, The Heptones, Peter Tosh amongst many more.

Bob Marley & the Golden Age of Reggae by Kim Gottlieb-Walker is a mutual love affair between a photographer and her subject which will be immensely enjoyed by both the general public as well as fans of both Bob Marley and reggae music.
