Shockwaves NME Awards 2009: The Winners

Oasis, The Killers, Pete Doherty, MGMT and Muse were among the big winners at the Shockwaves NME Awards, held at the O2 Academy Brixton.

Oasis were crowned Best British Band, while guitarist Noel Gallagher upped the Manchester legends' overall tally to two by winning the Best Band Blog gong.

It was Muse, however, who took home the most awards on the night. The rockers won the Best Live Band and Best Album Artwork (for 'HAARP'), while frontman Matt Bellamy was awarded the coveted Sexiest Male honour.

Pete Doherty might have been pipped to the Sexiest Male post by Bellamy, but he took home the Best Solo Artist honour.

Kings of Leon's album 'Only By The Night' won them the Best Album award, while MGMT took home two trophies, for Best New Band and Best Track (for 'Time To Pretend'.
