Latest Additions To Bestival 2009 Latest Additions To Bestival 2009

Mika & The Hot Rats are the latest addition to Bestival 2009. With their brand new site layout, new Afterburner stage and the truly mind-blowing line up they’ve already announced you probably think this year’s Bestival couldn’t possibly get any better but you’d be spectacularly wrong! Joining an eclectically glorious line up, that includes Massive Attack, Kraftwerk, Elbow, MGMT, Fleet Foxes, Seasick Steve, Klaxons, Lily Allen, Bat For Lashes, Soulwax, Diplo’s Mad Decent Sound System, Chase & Status and Michael Nyman, are some glittering musical gems that promise to bring some joyous party favours and high jinx to Robin Hill Country Park.

Taking a break from making his outer space costume Rob da Bank commented: “'With Bestival very close to selling out for yet another year on the trot, I thought we'd better leak out some more ace acts to keep us going ‘til September! Mika played his first ever live gig at Bestival two years ago and he's chosen Besti for his only fully live UK show of the year - the boy loves getting dressed up and putting on a show so expect the unexpected. On the other side of the spectrum I'm well pleased that Hot Rats are coming to Bestival for a rare live show – I’m a massive Supergrass fan and with Gaz and Danny from the band being joined by Radiohead uber producer and Bestival fan Nigel Godrich it's my kinda thing. See you in September!'”

Adding even more poptastic excitement to the bill and making a very welcome return to Bestival, the one and only Mika is set to showcase some brand new material alongside a host of sing—a-long hits in his only full live band performance of the UK Festival season.  Not one for hiding his light under a bushel, Mika’s live sets are a glittering technicolour feast with more glitz and glam packed into them than a year’s subscription to Heat Magazine and with some very special Bestival treats up his sleeve you can expect to be bowled over by the high energy vibes and boundless energy of it all.

Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey best known as one half of the much-loved Supergrass, are bringing their brand new super-exciting side project, The Hot Rats to the Isle of Wight this September. Performing their own‘Pin Ups’ style versions of some of their favourite classic songs, The Hot Rats are currently recording an album with the legendary Nigel Godrich celebrating some of pop and rock’s greatest artists over the last forty years. With whispers of Pink Floyd, Roxy Music and the Beastie Boys floating through their set, the latest Goffey/Coombes project is born out of a true love and respect for their rock heroes and is guaranteed to be an absolute corker.

And it doesn’t stop there, with Dubstepper Benga, BBC 1Xtra’s Benji B, BBC Radio 1’s Gold Sony Award winner Bobby Friction, the dirty rhythms of the Loose Cannons, Scottish House wunderkind Grum, Glitch-Hopper Hudson Mohawke, Lemonade’s stateside grooves, Ohbijou’s Indie-pop, rare groove from Ross Allen, the Isle of Wight’s own Shanklin Freak Show, Belfast’s commotion causing Skibunny, experimental rockers Stardeath and White Dwarfs, the psychedelic sounds of Sunny Day Sets Fire and the twisted Folk of The Acorn all taking the ferry across the Solent to join the Bestival mayhem, it’s going to be non-stop, tip-top fun.
