Astronaut Buzz Aldrin fronts new Louis Vuitton ad
Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man to set foot upon the Moon, and fellow space travellers Sally Ride and Jim Lovell are the latest faces to feature in a Louis Vuitton global ad campaign. Shot by Annie Leibovitz in the Californian desert, the three sit on the hood of a pickup truck, looking up at the stars and full moon, with the label's Icare travel bag in monogram canvas next to them.
The image will appear in major international titles from July; the advert is part of an ongoing campaign produced by Ogilvy & Mather, which aims to reinstate travel as the core value of the Louis Vuitton brand. Simultaneously, in its first integrated press and digital advertising campaign, Louis Vuitton is launching a dedicated website louisvuittonjourneys.com, on which Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell and Sally Ride discuss how the experience of space changed their lives; the site launches worldwide on July 2. Louis Vuitton commemorates the 40th anniversary of man's conquest of the Moon with this ad campaign.
