Costelloe opens London Fashion Week in style
By Sav D’Souza
Paul Costelloe opened London Fashion Week on Friday 18 September at Somerset House with his tantalising spring/summer 2010 collections.
A veteran of London Fashion Week Costelloe’s collection really was a visual feast and delight as an array of dazzling creations glided up and down the catwalk.
The women’s collection featured celestially tailored and designed outfits. Many dresses accentuated the shoulders and neck with some inventive cutting and styling at work. The range of fabrics, prints, structures all looked to be sumptuously utilised using a delightful palette of bold and striking colours. All the designs on show were extremely wearable.
This being London Fashion Week’s 50th anniversary it was fitting that Dublin-born Costelloe wowed onlookers with a showcase fitting of a man on top of his game creatively - even managing to make that 60/80s throwback the puffball skirt look perversely alluring.
This was an extremely memorable show full of an artistic appreciation of shape, substance, colour and ultimately women.
