James Blake turns designer for Fila
By Sav D’Souza

Tennis has had a long association with Fila and American James Blake is the latest name to get involved with the brand by designing a new range of clothing and footwear.

The new Thomas Reynolds range, named after Blake’s late father, is the result of a collaboration between Blake and Fila and was showcased at this year’s US Open.

Speaking abut the new range Blake said: “I wanted to create a line with Fila because I have learned a lot about tennis fashion throughout my career.  I felt that I could create a line that is functional on-court yet stylish enough to wear for a night out. Collaborating with Fila and their long history in tennis and sportswear made sense. It was the perfect fit!”

Back in the day it was the super ice cool Swede Bjorn Borg who really put Fila on the map as a visible sportswear label. The brand soon acquired a street fashion following in the UK as labels such as Fila and Sergio Tacchini gained a kudos among young fashion conscious dudes and street casual culture was born.
