Jewels from the Chicest Personal Shopper - La Maison Couture
Written by Belinda Morris
There’s no question that the internet has opened up a world of possibilities for the shopper, with anything and everything being just a tempting click away. But while it may save pounding the streets and literally travelling the globe, there’s still the issue that too much choice is almost as bothersome as no choice at all. Where do you start if you’re looking for something that little bit different, that little bit special? The pleasure in virtual window shopping can really pall if you’ve spent several hours doing it.
It was this conundrum that led Tania McNab to launch La Maison Couture — an exclusive sourcing service, a Little Black Book that could be likened to all the best department stores from around the world rolled into one lifestyle destination. Designed as a virtual 17th Century chateau, each room is filled with beautiful and luxurious objects, chosen by Tania, who was a scout and buyer from some of the most prestigious stores around the world, including Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Browns in London. One click will take you to indulgent retail heaven.
Launched last year with largely homes and interiors pieces (as well as lingerie and five-star chocolate) La Maison Couture now has a Jewellery Room, offering a comprehensive and eclectic mix of fantastic collections from established houses as well as new and hard-to-find designer names. Scroll your mouse over the line drawings of jewel-laden displays and you’ll find the various different categories, from Contemporary (like Felder Felder, Bex Rox, 10m2) to Designer (Lanvin, Balenciaga) and Vintage (Chanel, Tiffany).
"The new room is the latest addition to our luxury home and lifestyle portal at La Maison Couture,” says Tania. “Part of my time as a fashion buyer was spent as jewellery buyer for Harrods and so the idea of a Jewellery Room at La Maison Couture, seemed like an indulgence, but also like a natural progression. The new room showcases a selection of jewellery from some of the most talented new and emerging designers as well as statement pieces from some of my favourite brands and jewellery designers, as well as a selection of gorgeous one-off vintage finds, stylish men's cufflinks, jewellery boxes, christening gift ideas and some great children's jewellery, which I know, having a daughter myself, can be really hard to find…"
