Bright, sparkling and juicy, Ormonde Jayne’s rose inspired offering is a treat for the senses. Dry yet sweet, Ta’if is complex and exotic but refined nonetheless. It is these qualities that give the scent a broad appeal which makes it difficult to pin it down to a precise age group. Although the funky orange and charcoal grey packaging would suggest OJ are aiming for the younger boutique end of the market.

The top notes are pink pepper, dates and saffron, the heart is of rose, freesia, orange flower and jasmine, and the base is of broom and amber. The rose in the scent is voluptuous and full bodied like a good wine and it’s supported by the warmth and spice of the rest of the blend. This is definitely a warm fragrance, rather than a cooler rose scent. It also has excellent staying power.

The combination of pepper, rose and amber has always worked well, but the addition of saffron, dates and freesia makes Ta’if a treasure to savour.
