| The V&A hosts Yohji Yamamoto retrospective
March 12 sees the opening of the first UK solo exhibition looking into the life and work of Yohji Yamamoto at the Victoria and Albert Museum. The retrospective takes place 30 years after the Japanese designer's Paris debut and will be designed by his long-time collaborator, scenographer and lighting designer Masao Nihei.
The exhibition features over 80 garments and showcases both women's and menswear, in addition to a mixed-media timeline showing excerpts from his fashion shows, films and performances, graphic material, collaborations and selected photographs.
As part of this retrospective, Yamamoto's work will also be exhibited at the Wapping Project sites, at both Bankside (March 11-May 14) and Wapping (March 11-July 10). |
